Appling Healthcare Gives Weekly COVID-19 Update

Appling Healthcare reports one additional case of COVID-19 among residents at the Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavilion; however the resident was immediately tested again and the result was negative. The resident has been tested a third time; results are pending. No test results are pending on other residents. The hospital system reports no additional COVID-19 related deaths.

Additionally, Appling Healthcare reports 10 cases of COVID-19 among hospital employees and test results are pending on three other hospital employees.

The nursing home reports no additional cases of COVID-19 among employees and test results pending on three additional nursing home employees.

All employees at the nursing home and hospital continue to be screened for respiratory illnesses and temperatures twice a day; at the beginning of their shift and in the middle of their shift. Residents are screened three times a day. Environmental Services is cleaning all high-touch surfaces three times a day.

Nursing home residents and employees who previously tested negative for COVID-19 will  continue to be tested on a weekly basis.  As previously stated, decisions about testing for COVID-19 in outbreak settings are made in consultation with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Appling Healthcare continues to work closely with public health officials, communicating with the DPH on a daily basis.
