Appling Healthcare reports no additional cases of COVID-19 among residents at the Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavilion. The hospital system reports no additional COVID-19 related deaths.
Additionally, Appling Healthcare reports five additional cases of COVID-19 among hospital employees. No tests results are pending on additional hospital employees.
The nursing home reports no additional cases of COVID-19 among employees and no test results are pending on additional nursing home employees.
Effective immediately, visitors will be allowed to visit outside of the nursing home to see residents, although on a strictly controlled basis. The following guidelines must be followed:
- Visits are by appointment only and must be scheduled through Shawana Bennett, Social Services, at (912)367-9841 ext. 2408 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Visits will be limited to 15 minutes and will be done on Tuesday and Thursday each week.
- All visitors and residents are required to wear a mask during the entire visit.
- Visitors are required to maintain at least six feet of distance from the resident.
These guidelines have been established to ensure the health and safety of both residents and staff. Visitors who do not follow the guidelines will be immediately asked to leave and may be restricted from future visits.
Nursing home residents and employees will no longer be tested on a weekly basis; they will only be tested if they are symptomatic. As previously stated, decisions about testing for COVID-19 in outbreak settings are made in consultation with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Appling Healthcare continues to work closely with public health officials, communicating with the DPH on a daily basis.
All employees at the nursing home and hospital continue to be screened for respiratory illnesses and temperatures twice a day; at the beginning of their shift and in the middle of their shift. Residents are screened three times a day. Environmental Services is cleaning all high-touch surfaces three times a day.
