Appling Healthcare Gives Weekly COVID-19 Update

05/11/2020

The number of positive cases of COVID-19 among residents at the Appling Healthcare and Rehabilitation Pavilion has increased to 48. The nursing home also reports two additional COVID-19 related deaths, which brings the total deaths at the facility to 11.

Three residents have been able to return to the Pavilion nursing home after being admitted into the hospital and recovering from COVID-19.

In addition, Rose Keller, Chief Nursing Officer for Appling Healthcare, reports some uplifting news on the status of some employees who tested positive for the virus. “I am so thankful to report that a number of our employees have recovered from the coronavirus and several others are recovering,” she said. “We can only continue to deliver the best care possible and continue to pray for not only our employees but also our patients and the health and wellness of our community.”

As of today, May 11, 2020, a total of 35 Pavilion nursing home employees and eight hospital employees have tested positive. No tests are currently pending for employees. As we previously stated, decisions about testing for COVID-19 in outbreak settings are made in consultation with DPH. We continue to work with public health officials to prevent further transmission.

The National Guard returned to the nursing home this past Thursday to provide additional sanitation and infection control procedures.
