COVID-19 Positive Numbers Increase at Appling Nursing Pavilion; Additional Deaths Reported

04/22/2020

The number of positive COVID-19 coronavirus cases among residents at the Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavilion has increased to 29 cases. The facility also reports another COVID-19 related death, which brings the total deaths to two.

The nursing home is administering COVID-19 tests provided by the Georgia Department of Public Health to the remaining 64 residents and re-testing today six residents that previously reported with negative results.

Another employee of the nursing home has tested positive for the coronavirus and results for five other employees are pending. All employees that previously tested negative are being re-tested per GDPH guidance.

As we previously stated, all decisions on testing at the nursing home are made by the GDPH.

The National Guard is returning to the nursing home this Friday to provide additional sanitation and infection control procedures.
