Appling Healthcare Gives Weekly COVID-19 Update

05/18/2020
The number of positive cases of COVID-19 among residents at the
Appling Healthcare and Rehabilitation Pavilion has increased to 52 with an additional case pending. The nursing home also reports one additional COVID-19 related death, which brings the total deaths at the facility to 12.

Six residents have been able to return to the Pavilion nursing home after being admitted into the hospital and recovering from COVID-19.

The Pavilion nursing home also reports two new cases among employees for a total of 37 positive employees. However, approximately 20 of the total (37) employees who tested positive have since returned to work.

Nursing home residents and employees who previously tested negative for COVID-19 are now being re-tested on a weekly basis. As previously stated, decisions about testing for COVID-19 in outbreak settings are made in consultation with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Appling Healthcare continues to work closely with public health officials, communicating with the DPH on a daily basis.

The National Guard will return to the Pavilion later this week to provide additional sanitation and infection control procedures.

According to Randy Crawford, Appling Healthcare CEO, employees and residents continue to receive an outpouring of prayers, support and donations, all of which are tremendously appreciated and uplifting. (For more information on food donations for employees, contact: Barbara Hardee, Community Relations Coordinator, at (912)367-9841, ext. 3426, or hardeeb@appling-hospital.org.)
